'With The Current' is a poetic short film documenting the making of Vivienne Aerts’ album Current. Coming soon!

A poetic short set aboard a 1951 historic sailboat, ‘With the Current’ follows singer, composer, and producer Vivienne Aerts recording her album while she moves through the waterways of the Netherlands as water, wind, birds, and creaking wood become part of the music itself. More than a music documentary, it is a meditation on creativity, nature, deep listening, and the art of moving with life rather than against it.

Director Biography – Ted Steinebach

Ted Steinebach is a Netherlands-born filmmaker, pastry chef, writer, and multidisciplinary creative based in Brooklyn, New York. With a background that spans fine dining and visual storytelling, his work often lives at the intersection of art, music, atmosphere, and sensory experience. His first short documentary in this form, ‘With the Current’, brings a poetic and intimate lens to the making of music in dialogue with water and movement, while at the mercy of the natural elements. This sensitivity to texture and environment shapes his filmmaking, which is less concerned with explanation than with immersion, presence, and emotional resonance.
